BEST OF BOTH WORLDS IN
SHENANDOAH NATIONAL PARK:
Spend your days
'light-hiking'
the glorious
Appalachian Trail

Enjoy amenities at
modern mountain
resorts by night!

The world's best known hiking trail meanders along the Blue Ridge Mountain peaks of Virginia's Shenandoah National Park on its journey from Georgia to Maine. One of the best sections of the "A.T." featuring dramatic wilderness views, nature communing, and wildlife encounters just happens to be routed close to a series of historic (but updated) mountain resorts operated by ARAMARK Parks & Destinations.

This combination presents a unique opportunity to complete a reasonably "long-distance" linear hike, experiencing the wild outdoors by day, while sleeping and eating in style each night. Carry only lightweight minimalist gear as you put in the modest miles. One of the most affordable memory-packed vacations you'll ever take!

Hikes from one to four days are possible—each afternoon ending at your home for the night—a private motel-style room or cabin with hot showers, linens, and more. Just a short walk away is total-service dining featuring chef-inspired culinary delights, a fully stocked tavern, and live nightly musical entertainment.  The accommodations aren't as frugal as camping under the stars, but they don't cost nearly as much as many well known mountain resorts elsewhere—especially on most weeknights.

Your adventure starts where you choose to park (several options), when Mountain & Valley Shuttle Service—fully insured, holding all state and federal permits—meets you for transport of you and your gear to the beginning of the trek. The shuttle date and time is arranged separately after making your lodging reservations, which you can make online or by phone.

No need to be burdened by heavy backpacks, tents, cookstoves, or trail food. It's the best of both worlds! An excellent trail map will help you follow the A.T.'s famous white blazes (found every few hundred feet on trailside trees), find all the unusual scenic and historical "gems," valley viewpoints, side treks to waterfalls—and most importantly, your way "home" each night to one of Shenandoah National Park's quality mountain resorts.
